Man Who Kicked Out Samus in Metroid: Zero Suit Samus Suit: ‘I had to beat her with my bare hands’
A man who kicked out Samus Aran from a hotel room in a bid to humiliate her for her sexual preference was jailed for 12 years yesterday.
James Roberts, 31, from the village of Blyth, Gloucestershire, had initially denied the charges but the court heard that he became enraged after hearing about Samus’ decision to wear a sweat suit.
Roberts, who has no previous convictions, began the assault on December 18 last year when he entered a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Gloucesterhire, the Sun reports.
The court heard he began by yelling abuse at the woman, who said she did not wish to wear the suit because it was against her religious beliefs.
Roberts then threw his belongings out of the window before punching the woman in the face and throwing her onto the bed, the court was told.
The assault continued until Roberts and a friend left the room and went into the pub.
Roberts and his friend then returned to the room, which Roberts said had been left open and the couple had been in bed.
He then pushed the woman onto the floor, where she suffered a concussion and was unable to stand, the witness said.
Roberts admitted assaulting the woman and was sentenced to 12 years in jail.
He was also ordered to pay £25,000 compensation to the woman.
Roberts’ solicitor said the man had been angry at Samus because she had declined his advances and had said that she did wish to use the suit.
The Sun reported that Roberts had been living in a caravan park for years.
