Dr. William Schaller says he was treated for pneumonia at Springhill suites
Springhill Suite Suite Suite Manager William Schallion said he was being treated for the pneumonia and was discharged from the hospital Thursday.
Schallert, who has been the suite manager at the Springhill Hotel since January, said he didn’t know the extent of the pneumonia.
He said he had been at the hotel for three years.
He called it a precautionary measure.
Springhill has been a major tourist attraction and a popular destination for people visiting from across the country.
“I’m thankful for everyone that came out and were so happy,” Schallart said.
“It’s just a precaution.
We’re really sorry to the hotel and the guests.”
Schallard said the suite was on lockdown Thursday evening and that security had taken over.
He was not allowed to leave the hotel until security was able to verify his presence, he said.
Schallion has worked at Springhams for more than 20 years.
He said he did not know the details of what caused the pneumonia or what kind of symptoms he had.
He added that he was told that the hotel has “very strict policies” about not allowing guests to stay in the hotel without medical supervision.
He was not at the facility Thursday afternoon, but the hotel said that a person had been admitted to the hospital and that he would be released from the facility.
It did not say when the person would be re-counseled.
A man who lives in the Springham said he and others were waiting outside the hotel Thursday night after he received a text message from Schallers wife telling him he had pneumonia.
The man said he waited for his wife to be told by a medical provider what was happening.
Schallert said that the suite would not be allowed to reopen until it was confirmed by a health care provider that the pneumonia was not the result of someone else.
The hotel said in a statement that it was working with a hotel doctor and that the management of the hotel was on site to assist.
A medical emergency at Springhurst hotel is not uncommon, Schallinger said.
He had received similar notifications at other Springhill properties.
He has worked there for more then 20 years and has been in the business for about 15 years.
Schallion said that he has been doing this job for three decades.
He described it as “a job that I’ve had my whole life and love to do.”
Schallart has been on the job at Springhills since January 2017.
He joined the hotel in 2009 as a guest and later became the suite management.
He became a hotel employee in 2016.
The Springhill suite was opened in 2003 and became the first suite at the Hotel Springhill in the world to feature a full suite.
