When it comes to suits, the union and the union government are fighting

Union and Union Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Union Agriculture Minister B S Ananthapuram on Monday made it clear that both were on the same page on the suit debate, saying that suits were being discussed in Parliament and they will continue to do so.

In the House, the Union Home Ministry spokesperson Raju Sharma and Union Food Minister Jagdish Shettar held talks with Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi and asked him to bring down the ban on suits on the eve of the parliamentary session.

Triveda said suits are a very important issue and he is also in favour of a ban on the sale of suits.

Mr Trivedy said that a ban should be imposed on the use of suits on public display and a ban in shops.

Mr Shettars office said that he will take up the matter with the Centre.

In a series of tweets, Mr Trivey said the ban is being discussed, but that the government has not made any decision.

He added that he has written to the Prime Minister and asked that a suit ban should not be imposed.

A spokesperson for Mr Trives office said the minister is on the way to Rajasthan to meet Congress leader Vipin Gadkari and was not available to comment.
